Dortch Endowment Event

John Johnson Dortch (1930 – 1984) honored his family, community and state, and now we honor him. This series, established in 1985 by the attorneys and staff of his law firm (now Smith Leatherwood), enhances the museum’s offerings for the community with engaging programs, each with ties to regional history and museum collections. Past events have included a tasty lunch and conversation with North Carolina barbecue by expert Bob Garner, a talk by historian Henry Weincek on his award-winning book The Hairstons: An American Family in Black and White,  and a musical history of North Carolina by performer David DiGuiseppe.
