Belle Meade Society Spring Meeting with Special Guest Dr. Loren Schweninger

Appealing for Freedom: Freedom Suits in the South, his forthcoming book, is the product of years spent traveling to courthouses and archives throughout the South collecting freedom petitions and other legal documents filed by slaves. Dr. Schweninger, Professor emeritus of History at UNCG, is best known for his research on slavery, including collaborations with John Hope Franklin.

Light dinner at 6 pm, program to follow at 7 pm
