“Leaders Among Us: Greensboro Women” with Journalist Tina Firesheets

March 16, 2016 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Tina Firesheets

Join us for a Lunch and Learn in celebration of Women’s History Month. Tina Firesheets, editor of 1808: Greensboro’s Magazine, a monthly lifestyle magazine published by the News & Record, will share her thoughts about Greensboro’s diverse women and their leadership, and about Greensboro as her adopted home. Firesheets was a local reporter for nearly 15 years, covering a range of beats: education, community news and retail. But her years as a feature writer were the most rewarding. In that time, she wrote a series called “Crossing Cultures,” in which she explored the various celebrations and traditions of the many diverse people in Greensboro.

This event made possible by the John Dortch Memorial Endowment, Greensboro Historical Museum, Inc., and Greensboro Public Library. The Dortch Endowment was established in 1985 in memory of attorney John Johnson Dortch by the staff of Smith Moore Leatherwood, to support an annual educational program at the Historical Museum.

Reservations required and may be made with Mary Allen at mary.allen@greensboro-nc.gov or 336-373-2982. Box lunches from Zoe’s Kitchen may be purchased for $15 in advance. Copies of 27 Views of Greensboro: The Gate City in Prose & Poetry, which includes an essay by the speaker, will also be available.
