What can we give back to America? What can we show Americans about us? Like try to teach that we’re more than just refugees, or that we’re more than just immigrants. You know, that we have more than just the Khmer Rouge to make us important in this world.
– Ran Kong

Cambodian people walked off a plane and into Greensboro’s history in January 1983.

Who were they?
Why did they leave their country?
Could they make new lives in America?

Most Cambodians call themselves Khmer (Kah-mer). Now, twenty years later, Cambodians want to share their stories and their history with their Greensboro neighbors.

Trace their journeys from Southeast Asia to Greensboro.
