History Lunch Break: Asian American Pacific Island Stories of Now

May 27, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 12:30 pm

Free

Museum staff and partners produced the documentary This Is My Home Now, exploring the stories of Montagnard youth in Greensboro in 2015

Discover how digital storytelling is sharing diverse experiences of Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders here in North Carolina and in other parts of the United States. How can it upend stereotypes and misrepresentations, expand access to creative tools to youth, and offer new perspectives on our histories and communities?

We have a fantastic set of guests lined up for this program, including

  • Kālewa Correa, Curator of Hawai’i and the Pacific at the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center
  • H’Yua Liana Adrong, Executive Director at the Montagnard-Dega Association Inc.
  • Tina Firesheets, co-creator of the Pan-Asian Voices and Experiences (PAVE-NC) storytelling project

Register to join on Zoom. Or join on Facebook Live.

History Lunch Break comes to you live on occasional Fridays with conversations about all kinds of history with all kinds of interesting people. Click here to visit the episode archive on the GHM YouTube channel.
