SUMMARY:AIDS Quilt and Documentary
DESCRIPTION:Sections of the internationally celebrated AIDS Memorial Quilt – the 54½-ton\, handmade tapestry that stands as a memorial to more than 96\,000 individuals lost to AIDS – will be on view November 16-19 (Museum open until 7:00 pm on 11/17). \nWe will also host screenings of The Last One: Unfolding the AIDS Memorial Quilt in Mary Norris Preyer Hall on Friday\, November 17\, at 7:00 pm and Saturday\, November 18\, at 11:00 am.. This 2015 documentary chronicles the genesis of the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt and the evolution of the AIDS epidemic. Reservations are required\, as seating is limited. DESCRIPTION:Writer and nationally known broadcaster Michael Lasser\, along with singers Cindy Miller and Alan Jones\, turn the museum into a cabaret. The time is WWI\, and audiences will hum along to standards they know\, as well as hear the lyrics and melodies of the time of the Great War “Over There” that give insight into America today.
