History Museum Celebrates Lunar New Year January 28

GREENSBORO, NC (January 24, 2023) – The Greensboro History Museum will host a free Lunar New Year Celebration from 12-4 pm, Saturday, January 28, at the museum, 130 Summit Ave. Learn more about the Lunar New Year and some of Greensboro’s East Asian cultures with the Greensboro Chinese Association and the UNCG Japanese Club.

Beginning at 12 pm, families with children from pre-K through second grade can enjoy Little Lions Saturday with Lunar New Year crafts and stories especially for them. There will be songs, dance and musical instrument performances from the Greensboro Chinese Association (GCA) starting at 2 pm Guests can also enjoy hands-on activities and learn more about GCA and the UNCG Japanese Club.

This year’s Lunar New Year celebration is organized in partnership with the City of Greensboro AAPI Employee Resource Group. Free parking for Greensboro History Museum weekend events is available at the Church Street Deck. The museum entrance is a 3-5 minute walk past the library and left on Lindsay Street.

The Greensboro History Museum, an AAM-accredited Smithsonian Affiliate, is a division of the City of Greensboro Library Department and operates as a public-private partnership with the nonprofit GHM Inc. In partnership with the community, the Greensboro History Museum collects the city’s diverse history and connects people to that history and one another through engaging exhibits, educational programs and community dialogue.
