Volunteer Opportunities:

Volunteers are an integral part of the museum’s success, and the team truly appreciates their passion, enthusiasm, and commitment. Whether you’re passionate about history, enjoy working with the public, or want to give back to your community, the Greensboro History Museum offers a welcoming space for volunteers to make a difference and be a part of preserving the city’s history.

Tour Guides

In this position, you’ll lead engaging, in-depth tours through our exhibits, sharing the rich history of Greensboro with visitors of all ages. You’ll be responsible for providing informative, captivating narratives about our exhibits and answering questions, ensuring an enriching experience for each guest.

Field Trip Docents

As a volunteer docent you’ll have the opportunity to engage with students during field trips, guiding them through interactive stations that bring history to life. Your role will involve leading hands-on activities, facilitating discussions, and helping young learners connect with the past in a fun and educational way.

Front Desk Ambassadors

As a Front Desk Ambassador, you’ll be the first point of contact for visitors, providing a warm welcome and assisting with information about exhibits, events, and tours. You’ll also help with basic administrative tasks, ensuring a smooth and enjoyable experience for all guests.

 

Historic House and Cemetery Guides

As a Guide, you’ll lead visitors through the historic McNairy House or First Presbyterian Cemetery, sharing their rich history and fascinating stories. You’ll provide informative and engaging tours, helping guests connect with the past and learn about the house and cemetery’s significance to Greensboro’s history.

 

Special Program Volunteer

As a Special Programs Volunteer, you’ll assist with a variety of exciting events such as Lifted Voices, Flashback, Lunar New Year, Folk Fest, Greensboro Pride, Ghoulash, and more. Your role will involve helping with event setup, guest interactions, and facilitating activities, ensuring that each program runs smoothly and provides an engaging experience for attendees.
