February is Black History Month. Bring your Little Lions to the museum to discover the history of Greensboro’s Maco Beauty College with a fun craft activity to style hair on a self-portrait for preschoolers, elementary school-age children, and their families.
Husband and wife Edward D. and Sadie Mack London opened Maco Beauty College on E. Market St in 1935. Through 1969, the college trained over 1000 students. Its graduates operated beauty shops, taught cosmetology and even operated their own beauty schools.
