Lorena Guillen Tango Ensemble

This critically acclaimed group performs as part of Lifted Voices: Greensboro Women Making Herstory. The Lorena Guillen Tango Ensemble’s latest project, The Other Side of My Heart, documents journeys of Latina immigrants to the Triad in image and song.
Guillen conducted oral histories with six women who shared and reflected about their dreams and fears while evaluating what they had gained and lost in moving to a new country. She and composer Alejandro Rutty transformed the oral histories into a song cycle that also incorporates photographs and audio collage. Learn more at www.lorenaguillen.com.
