During World War I, Quaker educator Mary Mendenhall Hobbs (1852–1930) was a powerful voice for peace. Gwen Gosney Erickson, Friends Librarian and College Archivist at Guilford College, details Hobbs’s efforts to promote the newly formed American Friends Service Committee. Highlighting AFSC’s ongoing work locally and internationally is Hector Rivera Suarez, from the AFSC Office of the Carolinas.
