Painter Malvin Gray Johnson and the Harlem Renaissance

Greensboro-born painter Malvin Gray Johnson fought in WWI and became a significant figure in the Harlem Renaissance movement before his tragic death at age 38. Kenneth Rodgers, Director of the North Carolina Central University Art Museum, discusses Johnson's artistic career and legacy.

Museum Open for Fun Fourth

It's special hours at the museum for the Downtown Greensboro Fun Fourth Festival. Activities inside and outside include the #onebyoneGSO Community Portrait. Participants get a free portrait of themselves by photographer Tom Syrkowicz to take home and one to contribute to a community portrait on display at the museum. Join us for this once-a-year celebration.
