Experience the virtual version of the award-winning exhibition on the upheavals of 2020.
The physical exhibition closed November 2021, but the virtual exhibition remains available to explore online: Murals, Masks, Community Stories and Conversations Winner of History in Progress Award from the American Association of State & Local History, 2021; Gold Award in Research & Innovation, Silver Award for 2020 Response, Media & Technology MUSE Awards from the American Alliance of Museums, 2021
From face masks to S. Elm Street storefront murals demanding racial justice, 2020 has seen amazing expressions across the Gate City. Pieces of Now featured nearly 20 pieces of street art created as part of the summer protests, along with photos, objects and video interviews with artists and organizers. The exhibition also invited the community to share experiences, stories and objects related to the protests, pandemic and economic crisis.
"This is a different from other exhibitions in the museum. It is about NOW. It is also unfinished, because we are in the middle of the story."
