Asian Pacific American Celebration

Enjoy music, dance, martial arts, crafts and foods celebrating the opening of I Want the Wide American Earth: An Asian Pacific American Story and Generations: Voices of Greensboro’s Asian Pacific American Families.

Auditorium performers begin at 2:15 with Japanese storyteller Yaeko Katsuki, followed by Montagnard instrumentalist Y’Brom AyunSvasti School of Dance, Nrityabharati School of Dance, Triad Hindu Temple, Natyarpanam, Nataraj Dance and Choreography Academy, and Cambodian Cultural Center dancers.

Outdoor tent performers begin at 2 with Earth Spirit Taeko Drummers, followed by Montagnard instrumentalist Dock Rmah, Montagnard American Organization dancers and Filipino American Student Association dancers.

See martial arts by Greensboro Black Belt Academy at 3 p.m., followed by Blue Ridge Kung Fu Arnis Academy.

Enjoy family activities all afternoon including Weave It In the Street, Chalk the Walk sidewalk art, Chinese calligraphy and Jiangi game, and Indian craft demonstrations. Make and decorate a slap bracelet. You can also learn more at several cultural organization information tables.

Longtime Tate St. restauranteur Amelia Leung and coauthor Karen McClamrock will be signing copies of their just-published Hong Kong House Cook Book from 2 – 4 p.m.
