History of the Aggie-Eagle Football Rivalry: A Live Panel Discussion

The classic match-up between North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro and NC Central University in Durham has been a fan favorite for decades. Join us for an exploration of the history of the teams and the games with several special guests. In-person at the Greensboro History Museum or livestreamed at https://facebook.com/GHMuseum

This program is being organized alongside a Community Voices display on the Aggie-Eagle rivalry organized by the North Carolina A&T State University Department of History & Political Science and F.D. Bluford Library. The display opens December 7 and will be on view in the museum lobby through February 2022. A partner exhibit can be found at the Museum of Durham History here

 

Community Voices: Aggie-Eagle Football

The classic match-up between North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro and NC Central University in Durham has been a fan favorite for decades. Now on view in the museum lobby is a sampling of photographs, objects and interviews highlighting this nearly century-old rivalry.

This Community Voices display has been organized by the North Carolina A&T State University Department of History & Political Science and F.D. Bluford Library.

The Emancipation Proclamation: Voices to Freedom

A rare opportunity to see an original 1864 printed Emancipation Proclamation, signed by Abraham Lincoln. An inkwell and photographs of the Lincoln family will also be on view. Visitors will hear the voices and shared stories of African Americans’ continued efforts for freedom and equality in the Voices of a City: Greensboro North Carolina exhibition.

The Lincoln documents and objects are on loan and are part of the Lincoln Financial Foundation Collection at the Indiana State Museum. The collection was given to the State of Indiana by the Lincoln Financial Foundation in 2008. The Indiana State Museum is home to the historic objects and art while books, documents, photographs and periodicals are curated at the Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne.

Free admission; museum hours are Tuesday – Saturday 10 – 5 and Sunday 2 – 5.
